5 Amazing Brand Videos and What You Can Learn From Them

We all know that brands are becoming more and more reliant on video marketing to be successful. This is because people prefer to consume media through their smartphones, TVs, laptops, tablets etc. And what better way to engage an audience than with a visually-engaging brand video? So without further ado, let’s take a look at the top 5 brand videos and see what we can learn from them!

Brand Video #1 - Johnnie Walker - The Man Who Walked Around the World

This brand video, featuring Robert Carlisle, is a brilliant way to bring Johnnie Walker’s whisky brand to life. The brand has a remarkable history and heritage and this video does a fantastic job of telling that story in a way that is engaging and creative. The single-take concept is brilliantly written and it leaves the viewing audience on the edge of their seat as they keep waiting to see what comes next; not only in the journey of our narrator, but also in the journey of the Walker family.

What Can You Learn From This Brand Video

Heritage Can Be Wrapped in Story. A lot of great companies have long fantastic histories and heritage tied to their brands. It is important that these brands do not treat their heritage as just a background to tell the story of how they began and evolved, but also bring it front-and-center in order to immerse their audience in what makes them so unique. You are nothing without recognizing where you came from. Show the inspiration behind why you started the company and what it stood for in its early days. By showing this history, it shows customers how much they stand to gain by supporting them now.

Brand Video #2 - Nike - Find Your Greatness

Nike has always been a brand that has stood for inspiring people to find what they are good at and becoming the best version of themselves. In this video, we get to see many different types of athletes from all sorts of disciplines telling their stories about how sports have helped them become great as well as inspired others along the way – even when they didn’t think it was possible.

Whereas Nike traditionally relied upon professional athletes to tell these stories, these videos featured everyday athletes and amateurs and focused on a message that was much more accessible and relatable.

What You Can Learn From This Brand Video

Everyone loves to be aspirational and see others achieve great things. Nike made itself showing Michael Jordan and Lebron James defying gravity. However, it also pays to show your customers conquering their own goals. Shattering their own boundaries.

Nike reshaped the conversation around the word “greatness” with these videos. They made greatness an approachable concept. Greatness can be achieved by anyone with the right mindset and passion. And they were able to make a strong emotional connection with their audience, as well as demonstrate that Nike is an aspirational brand.

Brand Video #3 - Always - Like A Girl

Always’ campaign, “Like a Girl” challenged consumers to redefine what it means to do something “like a girl.” The ad shows young girls performing tasks that they are told are not for them, such as running and playing sports.

This Brand Video is aimed at empowering women because of the ways in which they show how ridiculous these stereotypes are. Unlike traditional feminine-targeted advertising, Always chose to empower its consumers by producing a value-centric piece of content that inspires women rather than simply appealing to them.

What You Can Learn From This Brand Video

Always decided to step up and advocate for their customers. This Brand Video is valuable because it shows brands that they can create content that changes the conversation around a topic. Brands also have an opportunity to empower their customers through this new kind of marketing strategy, which may allow them to form deeper connections with consumers who see themselves as part of a cause rather than just simply buying a product for its own sake.

Consumers want to align themselves with brands that share their values and video is a tremendous medium for companies to express those values. Whether it be through a narrative, documentary, or live video, Brand Videos are a way for companies to communicate with consumers in the most authentic and effective ways possible.

Brand Video #4 - The Encounter Collection

Now, this is not only one of my favorite brand films of all time, but also one of my favorite pieces of advertising. This video is for the designer, Stephen Kenn, and explores the theme of passing down an item from one generation to the next. There’s a gorgeous script, war, heartbreak, visuals, family… all tied to a freaking handbag!

And that is why video is so freaking powerful. The makers of this bag could come out and say that their products are so strong and beautiful that it could be passed down from generation to generation. Sure. They could say that.

Or they could tell a story about a father passing down his wisdom to his young son because, in a few minutes, he is most likely going to be shot down and killed for his country.

Brand Videos allow you to tell a story to your audience and allow them to make the connection themselves without you having to say a word.

Brand Video #6 - Dissolve - This is Generic

What do you do if your product has long been considered a hackey and b-rate substitute for actual and original video production? If you are the folks at Dissolve (they are awesome, by the way) you lean into this bias HARD.

For years b-roll and stock video was always believed to be low-quality and unoriginal. It was relegated to embarrassing educational videos and low-grade internal corporate presentations. However, with the cost of video production decreasing, the quality and quantity of stock video have exploded. As such, companies such as Dissolve has been able to offer high-quality production at an affordable price.

Dissolve’s video series,”This is Generic” pokes fun of the old stigma and shows that stock footage can be just as good, if not better than original footage.

In Conclusion

Brand Videos have the ability to humanize a brand and make it more approachable to consumers. It can be hard to find a video production company that understands your brand and what you are trying to communicate. Venture is the perfect partner for brands who want their videos to appeal on an emotional level. We don’t just produce compelling content; we also know how to position and deploy that content to reach your audience once it is produced. Got questions about the process? Give us a call today!.
